In the first six months of 2016|17 (1 March to 31 August 2016), AGRANA's
operating profit (EBIT) rose by 31.6% to EUR 90.4 million (H1 prior year: EUR
68.7 million). At EUR 1,320.3 million, Group revenue was also up 4.5 % on the
previous year (EUR 1,263.5 million) in first half of 2016|17.
The improvement in the Group's operating result is primarily attributable to the
recovery in the Sugar segment and the growth in the Fruit segment. Additionally,
the result in the Starch segment exceeded the high level seen in the prior year
despite the drop in ethanol prices.
Given the brighter outlook for all segments, AGRANA has raised its operating
result forecast for the 2016|17 financial year from 'moderate' to 'significant'
compared with the prior year.
The report on the first six months of 2016|17, including further details about
the segments and the outlook for 2016|17 will be published as scheduled on 13
October 2016.
