Gemalto Enables Egypt's Mobinil to Deploy Unique Value Added Services

Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), a world leader in digital security, today announces it is providing Mobinil with a high-capacity platform hosting a bundle of premium value added services. Mobinil, an affiliate of the Orange-Orascom Telecom Holdings joint venture, is the leading mobile operator in Egypt with over 9 million subscribers. The new services include an extended 1,000-entry phonebook, the Gemalto contact list backup solution, as well as group SMS, to cater to the fast-growing Egyptian mobile communications market. According to Informa Telecoms & Media, the number of subscribers in the Egyptian mobile communications market is forecast to grow 35% in 2007(1).
As part of its strategy to deliver premium offerings to its customers, Mobinil is deploying a suite of compelling services that are all new to the Egyptian market. With the Gemalto package, Mobinil subscribers primarily benefit from an enhanced phonebook and, in addition, the backup feature enables them to easily retrieve personal contacts in case their mobile phone is lost or stolen. The bundle also includes a secure and convenient application that stores and manages all secret codes through one master password, making it simpler for subscribers to organize their personal information.
