Pfaeffikon SZ, 30 April 2008 --- The fiscal year ending 31 December 2007 delivered solid results for shaPE with the gross investment income on the private equity portfolio reaching CHF 50.3 million and the share price and net asset value gaining 12.8% and 16.3% respectively.
The year 2007 turned out as the most active year for shaPE since its inception in 2001. Besides successfully completing its first capital increase, shaPE made fifteen new primary commitments at an aggregate record volume of CHF 151 million and completed a significant secondary acquisition of a mature private equity portfolio adding 2002 to 2005 vintage year exposure. While eight out of the fifteen new primary commitments were re-up situations, seven were to new relationships in the emerging markets and turnaround and distressed segment.
Despite the current challenging market environment and the associated slow down in the private equity market, shaPE is confident that the increased allocation to these segments together with its traditional overweighting of the small and mid sized buyout segment put the company in a good position to profit from current and upcoming market opportunities. shaPE expects that 2008 eventually will turn out to be an attractive vintage year and therefore has a commitment budget exceeding the 2007 vintage allocation.
