Last week HPC Hamburg Consulting GmbH forwarded a new economic analysis on the plans for a container harbour in Izmir/Turkey to Tayfun Ports AS, as was already announced in February by Swiss FE Group AG. In January 2007 Swiss FE Group AG signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Turkish Tayfun Ports AS concerning the cooperation within the scope of the harbour project in Izmir. For the next two weeks the persons responsible for Tayfun Ports AS have the opportunity to check out the details of the study and to contact HPC with further enquiries. At the beginning of May there will be an official presentation of the economic analysis with representatives of Tayfun Ports AS in Hamburg/Germany or Izmir.
After this presentation proceedings will be entered by Swiss FE Group AG and Tayfun Ports AS about further agreements considering the new HPC study. Persons in charge of Swiss FE Group AG anticipate the announcement of their decision on the participation in the harbour project by the end of June 2008.
That Izmir is an interesting location for logistic activities is proven by the fact that a private group of companies (amongst others Hutchison Whampoa) took over the state-run harbour of Izmir for 1,275 m. US-Dollar in May 2007. Compared to the planned container harbour this Izmir harbour is located in the centre of the city and does not include the necessary water depth for modern and big ships.
Swiss FE Group AG, a company located in the Swiss canton Zug, lies a main focus on the investment in companies in the metal industrie. At the subsidiary TISAN Steel AS in Izmir, in the industrial area of Issikent, steel ashlars have been worked into bar steel ever since 1985. It has predominantly been used for the production of ferroconcrete in the building industry.
The shares of Swiss FE Group AG (WKN: A0LFD1, ISIN: CH0027609046) are traded in BX Berne Exchange and in the Open Market of Deutsche Börse Frankfurt.
