Roding, December 28, 2005 - The international technology company Muehlbauer has been awarded a major contract by IBM UK Ltd, the prime contractor of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the authority for registering cars and issuing driving licences in Britain. The contract comprises: the delivery and installation of machinery for personalizing the new British driving licence card.
Muehlbauer, a worldwide active and independent provider of sophisticated technology and innovative solutions for producing identification and registration documents, was selected as a sub-contractor by IBM UK Ltd on the strength of their experience in polycarbonate technology and the flexibility of their personalization equipment. As a reliable partner Muehlbauer will assist IBM UK in establishing the new driving licence production system that will issue the new licence. Considering the expected total term of the contract will come to seven years and the inclusion of a maintenance element, the contracts sales volume for Muehlbauer amounts to approximately 10 million EUR.
In addition to the delivery of the machines for personalizing the British driving licence card Muehlbauer will handle the support and service of the machinery for up to seven years. This clearly shows the principles applied by Muehlbauer in dealing with customers not just as a supplier of technology, but also as a reliable independent adviser and partner.
In meeting the stringent requirements of DVLA Muehlbauer can, above all, benefit from its experience in dealing with various ID projects throughout the world. The system solutions include machinery for producing identification and registration documents ranging from ID cards to the latest ePassport.
