January 10, 2008 - centrotherm photovoltaics AG has founded a branch in Taiwan: centrotherm photovoltaics Asia Pte. Ltd. Taiwan Branch. "This step allows us to continue our strategy of expanding our market position, and we are also establishing ourselves as one of the leading international providers of technology and services for the production of solar cells and solar silicon," explained Robert Hartung, CEO of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. centrotherm photovoltaics is planning to create and expand further service and sales companies, particularly in Asia and the US.
The branch in Taiwan is a subsidiary of the Asian company centrotherm photovoltaics Asia Pte. Ltd., which is headquartered in Singapore. This company is 100 percent owned by centrotherm photovoltaics AG.
The introduction of a statutory subsidy program for renewable energies is planned in Taiwan. The aim is to raise Taiwan's photovoltaic output to 21 megawatt-peak by the year 2010 with the help of direct state subsidies and legally binding input tariffs for renewable energy sources.
centrotherm photovoltaics is already generating around 70 percent of its revenue in the Asian region.
