Edi Estermann, head of the SRG Press Office and spokesman for SRG Director General Gilles Marchand, has been named Head of Communication for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. From November he will focus solely on communication activities for the event.

Preparations for staging the Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland have been in full swing since Nemo's victory in Malmö on 11 May. Until now, the communication activities have been managed by the SRG Press Office under the leadership of Edi Estermann.

As the project progresses, the world's biggest music event will require more communication work and a dedicated team. Edi Estermann has therefore decided, in consultation with SRG Director General Gilles Marchand and Director General elect Susanne Wille, to focus solely on communications for the ESC from 1 November and to head up the dedicated team as Head of Communication. The two teams will work together very closely.

Estermann is therefore stepping aside as head of the SRG Press Office after seven years working alongside SRG Director General Gilles Marchand just as Marchand leaves the organisation. Gilles Marchand commented: "Organising the Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland is a huge challenge for SRG, in which communication will play a key part. The fact that Edi Estermann has fully committed to the project is a stroke of luck for the ESC. I'd like to thank him for his professionalism, his availability and the high level of trust that has shaped our close working relationship for the last seven years."

Edi Estermann added: "The ESC is a demanding and high-profile international project and from a communications perspective a huge challenge which I'm happy to accept. My team and I will make every effort to ensure that the ESC is a success for SRG in communication terms and I look forward to this intensive adventure."

The Director General elect Susanne Wille is reorganising the SRG Communication team. The newly created position of Head of strategic corporate communication will be advertised. In the meantime, all media enquiries will continue to be handled directly by the SRG Press Office.
