Turkcell , the leading communications and technology company has announced Turkey was named among the most successful countries in the "Strategies of Leading FTTx Operators" report published by IDATE through its 100% subsidiary Turkcell Superonline's fiber internet applications.
IDATE is one of Europe's foremost market analysis and consulting firms, whose mission is to provide assistance in strategic decision-making for its clients in the Telecom, Internet and Media industries and its "FTTx Watch Service" is specifically designed to provide with a global FTTx projects database, a comprehensive analysis of the issues affecting this promising market. In its new report, IDATE underlines that Turkcell Superonline is an important player in the field of FTTH, that had proven to be a leading player not only in Europe, but also worldwide. We initiated the "internet without a visa" era through these agreements, providing us direct fiber access to Europe's internet hubs such us Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Sofia. Additionally, we are due to commence data flow on the Middle East's longest terrestrial fiber infrastructure RCN ("Regional Cable Network") in the first quarter of 2012. Through these projects that we launch with the vision to transform the "silk road" into a "fiber road", we aim to position ?stanbul as one of the most important points of the world's infrastructure network, hence turning the city into an internet hub. The European FTTH Council's report published in February 2011 stated that "Turkey's largest mobile operator Turkcell's subsidiary Turkcell Superonline had enabled Turkey to rank 8th among G20 countries in terms of penetration."
