Subtitle: Almex division delivers complete solution for trams and buses
Hoeft & Wessel AG has been awarded a contract by Rostocker Straßenbahn AG, the regional public transport company of the German City of Rostock, for the supply of a new ticketing system for the city's bus and tram network. Before the end of the year 2010, some 105 mobile ticket vending machines of type almex.compact plus and 63 stationary ticket vending machines of the almex.station series will be delivered and installed along with application software and back-office system.
This marks the first time that Rostocker Straßenbahn AG is investing in a ticketing solution that allows tickets to be sold at stops as well as on board vehicles. Communication between the mobile ticket vending machines and the back office system is via the GSM mobile phone network. The stationary machines can communicate with the back office system either via WLAN network or mobile telephony, depending on the infrastructure available. The public transport company operates 6 tram lines and 27 bus lines within the region.
This new contract will allow Almex, a division of the German IT and engineering Group Hoeft & Wessel, to extend its lead in the market for public transport ticketing solutions in Germany. Almex has enjoyed significant growth in sales over recent years, and in addition to its home markets (Germany and the UK), it has also become one of the best-known specialists for ticketing systems throughout Europe. Its product range with a proven track record guarantees fast installation and safe reliable operation. Almex is in leading position in the implementation of the German e-ticketing standard VDV core application (VDV KA), so customers in the regional public transport sector can be sure that they are investing in a user-friendly and future-proof system.
