annual report
18.07.2008
"In 2007/2008, feratel media technologies AG was able to continue to pursue a strategy of sustainable growth and internationalization. With a consistent focus on our customers and a portfolio of products at the leading edge of technological developments, we again delivered a convincing performance at the international level. At the same time we were able to defend our position as the market and innovation leader on our Austrian domestic market. After several consecutive years of positive developments in our earnings situation, we can once again report a record result for the year under report." That is the conclusion drawn by CEO Markus Schröcksnadel in the light of the 2007/2008 financial statements.
At the close of the 2007/2008 financial year at the end of April, group sales were up by about 40 percent, from 20.8 to 29.1 million euros. That is largely the result of full consolidation for the whole of the financial year of the four Sitour companies in Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, which had only been included for three months of the previous year. At the same time, increased sales were reported by the companies already affiliated to the group.
Operating income (EBIT) increased by about 40 percent, from 1.0 million euros in the previous year to 1.4 million in financial 2007/2008. Taking account of minority interests and changes in reserves, consolidated net income grew from 1.1 to 1.4 million euros. At 5.6 million euros, EBITDA was also up on the previous year (after 4.5 million in 2006/2007).
The feratel Executive Board will be proposing a dividend of 14 eurocents (compared with 9 eurocents in the previous year) to the General Assembly scheduled for 13 October.
Key to success: broad-based product portfolio
Telecommunications Division: A total of 15 new cameras were commissioned on feratel's domestic and export markets in 2007/2008 in locations ranging from Bruges and Zeebrügge in Belgium to Bodenmais in Germany and Almuñécar in Spain, which is now the southernmost point in feratel's Europe-wide panoramic webcam network. And a new partner for daily transmission of feratel's live images was recruited in Bulgaria in the form of a dedicated tourism channel called Travel TV International.
Information and Reservation Systems Division: In financial 2007/2008, feratel made its mark throughout Europe with its outdoor information systems, with a total of 30 systems installed. The company made its market debut with its outdoor information systems in both Greece and Ireland. Installations were also shipped to the Netherlands (Ameland and Dokkum), Bulgaria (Veliko Turnovo and Pomorie on the southern Black Sea coast), Slovakia (Slovensky Raj, Vratna and Donovaly) and Italy (Riccione, Vigo di Fassa, Pozza di Fassa, Wolkenstein and Alleghe). In 2007/2008 the feratel team also implemented the Neusiedler See Card, Austria's biggest visitor card project with integrated visitor registration.
Media Division: Two panorama information systems were sold to Sochi in the first contract ever won on the Russian market for a Sitour core product incorporating feratel software.
