In 2008, Air Berlin welcomed a total of 28,559,220 passengers on board, i.e. one percent more than in the previous year (2007: 28,272,967). Fleet capacity utilization over the January to December 2008 period improved to 78.4 percent, i.e. an increase of 1.2 percentage points (2007: 77.2 percent).
For December 2008, Air Berlin´s revenue per available seat kilometre
("Yield per ASK") reached 5.35 Eurocents, an increase of 17.6 percent
over the corresponding month of the previous year (December 2007:
4.55 Eurocents). As a result of a targeted capacity reduction of 6.4
percent, the number of passengers transported decreased by 5.4
percent to 1,806,618 passengers (December 2007: 1,909,137). Fleet
capacity utilization increased from 71.5 to 72.3 percent, i.e. an
increase of 0.8 percentage points.December 2008
