Metaporta and Merantix launch partnership to build AI platform

The Venture Studio Metaporta launches a partnership with Merantix AI Campus Berlin to build a global hub for AI solutions in life sciences and healthcare in Allschwil/Basel.
Artificial Intelligence (short: AI) holds an immense potential to create solutions in industries across the board. The Basel region, as Europe's leading life sciences cluster, already struggles with a shortage of IT professionals, and the situation threatens to worsen with the arrival of this new technology. "In the coming years, the region will need to make significant efforts to attract and retain global experts in the technology sector. It is important that Europe's leading life science cluster also becomes an accessible technology hub, a magnet for visionaries and pioneers who help develop new and innovative solutions", says Patrick Geiser, Co-Founder of Metaporta.
For this reason, the Venture Studio Metaporta collaborates with Merantix from Berlin to expand its successful AI platform concept and set up an AI Campus as pop-up in Allschwil/Basel in June 2023. Similar to the Merantix AI Campus Berlin, various event formats on the topic of AI will be established in the coming months and among others, experts from Berlin will come to Basel. The goal is, to open a permanent AI Campus in Basel later in the near future. Patrick Geiser: "We are convinced that our approach will double the number of tech experts in the region in the coming years and further strengthen the region's innovative power along the way."
Merantix, co-founded by Swiss entrepreneur Adrian Locher and AI expert Dr. Rasmus Rothe, is a leading global AI investment platform that takes AI from research to application. One important pillar of the platform is the AI Campus, a thriving community space founded in 2021, that has attracted over 80 companies and more than 1.000 international members after a short time. The concept of the AI Campus involves offering the various stakeholders in the field of AI a place for open exchange and collaboration.
