Jungfraubahnen Holding AG / Key word(s): Half Year Results 10.09.2013 07:00 Release of an ad hoc announcement pursuant to Art. 53 KR --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Jungfrau Railway Group can look back on a good business performance in the first semester of 2013. It achieved revenue of CHF 77.4 million, an increase of CHF 2.3 million, or 3.1 per cent, on the previous year. The increase was largely due to increased traffic income, which rose by CHF 2.6 million compared to the same period in 2012. Excursion traffic to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe continued to profit from activities carried out during the 2012 centenary year. Despite fewer special offers, 334 200 visitors travelled to the Jungfraujoch in the first half of 2013, only 5200 visitors fewer than in the centenary year and a higher average yield per visitor was achieved at the same time. The decisive factor for the sustained, pleasing visitor numbers was primarily the flourishing Asian business. The company's intensive cultivation of the Asian market has been well worthwhile and strengthened the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe brand. In contrast to the excursion traffic to the Jungfraujoch, the winter-sport business was mediocre. The economic situation led to fewer guests travelling from European countries to Switzerland and the Jungfrau Ski Region. Added to this, the Swiss increasingly took their holidays abroad. Thanks to continued good snow conditions, the JUNGFRAU Ski Region, from which the Jungfrau Railway Group receives a 63% revenue share, was able to register 916 100 skier visits from 1 January 2013 to the end of the winter season, thus achieving a growth of 1.6 per cent. This resulted in revenue of CHF 18.4 million for the Jungfrau Railway Group - equivalent to an increase of 2.1 per cent. However, the result lies considerably below the best winter-sport years. In the first semester of 2013, the Jungfrau Railway Group achieved a profit of CHF 11.1 million, thus showing a half-year result of 4.3 per cent above that of the previous year. The company recorded an operative result (EBIT) of CHF 14.9 million and achieved an EBIT margin of 19.3 per cent. Visitor frequencies 2013 2012 Change 1.1.-30.6.
