S&T AG's subsidiary in Romania has secured orders worth more than EUR 8 million for services, software and IT technologies facilitating the modernization and extension of Romania's systems of rescue direction centers and of emergency calls. All of the commissioned sub-projects are to be concluded during the current financial year. Impeded by strong results in Poland and Romania, S&T's business in Eastern Europe has been developing promisingly. Secured by a consortium of suppliers comprising S&T, these orders have enabled S&T to put once more its comprehensive trove of knowhow in IT solutions on display and to play a leading role in one of Romania's key projects. Romania's national system of emergency calls order will enable the incorporation into the system of all institutions involved, with these including the various ambulance and other rescue services in the country. The completion of the project will turn the country's rescuing operations into end-to-end, fully-automatic processes, ones capable of being depicted as workflows, and with these starting with the placements of the emergency call and concluding with the delivery of patients to hospitals. S&T's part of this is the delivering of server and storage technologies; and the provision of services related to planning, installation and commissioning. S&T will also supply software developed to meet customer specifications. S&T's part of a second order in Romania comprises the modernization of the hardware and software infrastructure of an emergency call system serving Bucharest and the county of Ilfov. This entails S&T's delivery and implementation of communication technologies and data center and storage components produced by Cisco, Eaton and HP. These items will be employed in the automation of processes. The two projects have a value of some EUR 8.1 million and will be entirely realized in 2015. "The S&T Group is one of the few full-scale providers of IT systems and services whose network covers nearly all of Eastern Europe. The last two years' cooling of the region's markets has been succeeded by a return to growth. The engines of our strong growth in Eastern Europe have been Poland and Romania, in which sales rises of more than 25% have been achieved," reports Hannes Niederhauser, Chairman of the Managing Board of S&T.
