Sony Extends Choice and Lifestyle Versatility With Two New Small-Mid Screen LCD Television Models
Berlin, Germany (ots/PRNewswire)
- Competitively Priced Sony LCD TV Models Set New Value Standard Throughout The Home Environment
Building on the success of its ultra slim-line and stylish LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Television Series, Sony Europe has today announced the introduction of two new small-mid screen models. The 23-inch KLV-L23M1 offers the latest developments in Sony WEGA Engine technology, and provides a High Definition (HD) capable television set whilst the 17-inch KLV-17HR3 provides an elegant lower priced gateway to Sony's legendary television viewing experience for the broadest range of home entertainment users. Extended colour options (in black and silver) allow the user to integrate their new television within their existing home entertainment network. The ultra slim-line small-mid screen models provide the opportunity for users to enjoy the stunning Sony LCD TV viewing experience in a range of domestic environments including kitchens, studies and bedrooms.
For today's digital TV viewer looking for a combination of fully featured performance and value for money, the KLV-L23M1 offers an attractive proposition. Harnessing all the digital image processing potency of Sony's WEGA Engine, it offers the best image quality available across its entire 23-inch 16:9 aspect ratio screen. The KLV-L23M1 is HD capable with a tremendous 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution screen resulting in definition, brightness and contrast that brings television entertainment to life. At the same time, a PAL 3D Comb filter lends the images a degree of realism that you feel you can reach out and touch. Audio processing is another strong point with Virtual Dolby Surround Sound and BBE Digital Signal Processing played back through two powerful 7cm, 4W full-range speakers, each combined with a 2.8cm oval tweeter to enhance high frequency sound reproduction.
KLV-17HR3
Offering widescreen (15:9) WXGA resolution viewing and sharing many core features of more expensive Sony LCD TV models (Picture Freeze, Sleep Timer, Teletext), the newKLV-17HR3 offers a degree of performance and choice that was previously beyond the reach of this price point.
"These two new models provide exceptionally high value for money to users that are in search of high quality home entertainment and reflect the rapidly increasing demand for flat screen displays with an emphasis on slim-line design and increased image resolution," commented Andreas Ditter, Director, Television Marketing Europe at Sony Europe. "We are continuing the Sony WEGA heritage with two new LCD small-mid screen models that extend and enrich the user's choices in their personal lives. These new models provide the same sophisticated digital viewing platform outside the main living room environment - in kitchens, studies - wherever you choose to install it."
Style and functionality - it must be Sony
In developing these new LCD TV models, Sony has emphasised digital age functionality without compromising the style and elegance that have become bywords for Sony WEGA television. A 170 degree viewing field means that users can move around a room - for example whilst preparing food in a kitchen - whilst still enjoying this high quality moving image. Sony's Picture Freeze facility is another feature that enhances the viewing experience. Using this facility, the image freezes whilst the audio continues - ideal for writing down an address or cooking recipe.
Sony has succeeded in extending technical performance at the same time as developing miniature components. Weighing just 10kg or 5kg (without their stand) and with a super slim-line 102mm or 91mm profiles, the KLV-L23M1 and KLV-17HR3 look equally stunning freestanding our wall-mounted (utilising a custom-designed bracket). Their stylish good looks provide a sophisticated visual focus in even the most design conscious living environment. The KLV-L23M1 features built in AC capabilities - a feature that further enhances their versatile application in a range of different domestic environments.
With a range of input and output options, including SCART, audio in/out and S-Video input these new LCD televisions integrate seamlessly within a multi-component Sony home entertainment system. Available for the first time in either black or silver, both televisions share the same distinctive design contours and aesthetic appeal that set Sony home entertainment technology apart from its competitors.
Sony targets increased market share
Having established its LCD Television range at the high-end of the market, Sony is embarking on an ambitious market development campaign involving promotion and pricing initiatives. The company has announced price reductions across its LCD TV range with the aim of establishing a market leading position in Europe. "Flat panel displays, such as our LCD TV Series are growing in popularity and we have targeted this as a key developing market," explains Andreas Ditter. "When we combine Sony quality with one of the market's best value for money propositions it makes the decision to step up to Sony LCD TV simple."
