LambdaNet announces Relationship with Akamai
Hanover, Germany (ots)
LambdaNet Communications, a high-speed telecommunications network carrier, today announced that it has forged a relationship with Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of outsourced e-business infrastructure services and software, through which Akamai has installed edge servers inside certain locations within the LambdaNet pan-European IP network.
The relationship will enable Akamai to expand its strategic network deployment in France with new edge servers co-located in LambdaNet's high-speed IP network. LambdaNet ope- rates a pan-European fiber network with a total length of 22,000 kilometers and more than 60 points of presence across Europe. The deployment of Akamai edge servers inside Lamb- daNet's network will improve the delivery of rich media, HTML, video streams, and digitized downloads from Web-enabled enterprises that leverage Akamai's services to LambdaNet's ISP and telecommunications carrier customers. As a result, LambdaNet can offer high-performance delivery of data and applications while improving its transit bandwidth efficiency for the delivery of AkamaizedSM content.
"With the Akamai servers deployed inside our network, our customers can now offer higher quality delivery of popular multimedia content to their end users, as well as the ability to handle traffic surges and scale quickly to meet demand," said Dr. Dieter Finke, CEO of LambdaNet Communications.
The relationship between LambdaNet and Akamai underscores LambdaNet's commitment to offer its customers the best quality of IP connectivity in terms of availability and reliability. Akamai's suite of services reduces infrastructure costs and complexities by off-loading all the elements of an enterprise's Web presence for delivery from Akamai's globally distributed network of more than 13,000 servers located close to Internet end users. Akamai's core technology analyzes real-time Internet conditions to assemble and deliver Web-based data and applications with greater performance from an optimal Akamai server at the network's edge.
"LambdaNet's strategy is in line with Akamai's efforts to improve the Internet experience by delivering Internet content from the network's edge," said Jonathan Stefansky, vice president of network infrastructure and architecture, Akamai. "Working with LambdaNet, we can improve the reliability of content and applications delivered for LambdaNet's customers while expanding the presence of Akamai's global network in France."
