San Diego, Calif. and Hamburg, Germany (ots)
This is the correction to the previous press release distributed on March 4th, 2002 -
Ethertronics, a developer and manufacturer of embedded antennas for personal and industrial wireless devices, announced today that it has opened its European headquarters just outside Hamburg, Germany. The international expansion marks the company's response to the growing demand from European hardware manufacturers for advanced antenna technology that offers high performance, sleek styling and decreased Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) measurements.
Electronics industry consulting company, ICN GmbH, has been appointed to set up Ethertronics' European operations and will oversee branch office set up, as well as business development with key OEMs in the area of DECT and GSM.
"European mobile device manufacturers continue to lead the market in terms of the variety, styling and volume of mobile devices available, but also in deploying the most advanced wireless technologies," stated Bruce Gray, Ethertronics' CEO. "The regional office will allow us to better serve our international customers and comply with international wireless standards."
The Ethertronics product portfolio includes a complete line of embedded antennas which offer compact size, good isolation and easy integration for a range of mobile wireless applications including CDMA, GSM/GPRS, GPS, Bluetooth and WLANs.

About SAR
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the unit of measurement for the amount of radio frequency (RF) absorbed by the body when using a personal wireless device, such as a cellular phone. All wireless phones marketed in the United States must meet the safety limit of 1.6 W/kg (watts per kilogram) in 1 gram of tissue, set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Wireless phones marketed in Europe must meet the safety limit of 2.0 W/kg in 10 grams of tissue, set by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). Ethertronics' embedded antennas comply with both industry standards and have a decreased SAR rating.
