MEDION AG: Earnings for Q2 and H1 2007 significantly above previous year's level
MEDION AG is stating that earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) will improve from EUR 0.6 million in the prior-year period to approximately EUR 2.5 million in the second quarter of 2007. Earnings before taxes will see an even greater increase from EUR 0.2 million in 2006 to approximately EUR 3.2 million in Q2 2007. As expected, sales will not reach the previous year's level. However, sales will decline less than assumed at the beginning of the year. After EUR 364.1 million in Q2 2006, sales will reach approximately EUR 310 million in Q2 2007. The clear increase in earnings was achieved largely due to savings in cost of materials and successful overall cost management. EBIT for the first six months of 2007 will increase from EUR 4.6 million in 2006 to approximately EUR 7.1 million, while earnings before taxes will double from EUR 3.6 million to approximately EUR 7.7 million.
