At the IZB 2006 in Wolfsburg, the POLYTEC GROUP will be exhibiting heat-resistant thermoplastic parts for the engine compartment, a new fine oil separation system for cylinder-head covers and modules, and systems made of plastics and natural fibre composites for vehicle interiors
In recent years, cost and weight considerations have led to an increasing use of heat-resistant thermoplastic parts in the engine compartment. The share of cylinder-head covers made of polyamide has increased constantly in relation to the total market for engine camshaft covers. This trend is sure to continue, given the economical injection moulding production process and the freedom of design offered by plastic materials with the possibility of welding individual parts together to produce complete assemblies. Thermoplastics can be used to produce highly complex structures which combine many individual functions in one complete part.
For some years now, engines have been designed with cyclones for separating oil droplets out of "blow-by" gases. To enhance the separation rate, the POLYTEC GROUP has developed a switched cyclone system and applied for a corresponding patent. The pressure loss curve of the new oil separation system has been reinforced in the low volume flow range and rated to reduce pressure in the high volume flow range. This new degree of freedom makes the switched cyclone separator ideal for universal use because it can be adjusted to all engines. A functional model of this cyclone separator will be on display at the stand of the POLYTEC GROUP, hall 5.0, stand number 123.
Together with complex applications for the engine compartment, the POLYTEC GROUP will also be presenting modules and systems made of plastic and natural fibre composites for vehicle interiors and luggage compartments, including door panelling, roofliners and luggage compartment side panelling.
