Atmel Achieves RoHS Compliance for Its High-Reliability PowerPC Microprocessors

Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a global leader in the
development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions,
announced today the availability of RoHS-compliant versions for
several of its extended-reliability microprocessor products based on
PowerPC(R) cores. Employing its experience in high-reliability
packaging solutions, Atmel has recently introduced LTCC (Low
Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) versions, also called Hi-TCE ceramic,
for its entire PowerPC microprocessor offering. These unique Hi-TCE
package developments allow Atmel to offer RoHS-compliant versions for
the PowerPC 603R, 745, 755 and 7457 32-bit RISC microprocessors, in
either LGA-form or Pb-free CBGA, from commercial to military
temperature range.

These four products are now available for small volume quantities,
qualification and production ramp-up is scheduled for 3Q of 2006.
